With the economy the shape it’s in, many families have faced, or are currently facing financial struggles. Medical insurance can easily begin to fall low on a person’s list of financial responsibilities when money is tight. However, having health insurance is extremely important, especially if you fall in the high risk pool. There is no guarantee a person will stay healthy and avoid all accidents. As a matter of fact, most of us will get ill or experience an accident in our lives. When this happens, medical bills can be very high and add up quick. Without health insurance, a person could have to file for bankruptcy to help relieve the financial stress medical bills can bring.
Children are often susceptible to accidents and illness, especially school age children. Playground accidents are just one type of an occurrence that often cannot be avoided. Other common ways children get injured include: falling while riding a bicycle, falling while jumping on a trampoline, injury while participating in sports activities. When a child gets injured, the hospital bills can be expensive. Without insurance, you are responsible for all the costs.
If your employer does not offer health insurance, or you cannot afford the plan being offered, check into Florida healthy kids program plans, or other student plans. Families, or people, who simply cannot afford insurance of any type, have the option of applying for government medical insurance called Medicaid insurance. After filling out an application, it will be determined whether or not you are eligible, depending on different factors, like your total household income. If you are found eligible, you will be notified, and sent an insurance card.
Even for families who do not have children, or families with children who are grown, medical insurance is important. Florida medical insurance is available through most employers, although some employers have cut back on that expense. Private companies also offer different types of policies for individuals and families to best meet individual needs of each person.
